  Contact Us

If we are successful in our goals, this site will be regularly updated and always under construction.  The first of our many outreach efforts, we want Ming history to be intriguing and fun for people other than professional academics in Ming studies.  We also want it to offer uncommon yet useful items of interest to the occasional visitor who might wander through historical structures other than the Forbidden City. We hope to demonstrate through our website the types and scope of studies that the Geiss Foundation is interested in sponsoring; we welcome and encourage contributions from all our readers.  We hope that you, like us, agree that the world wide web is a marvelous treasure we should all use, enjoy and share.

We introduced the first website for Geiss Foundation in 2002; this website has been completely updated in November 2004.  We want to acknowledge with thanks Geiss Foundation trustees for their help and input; we also want to thank Shirley Zhang of Pro Re Nata, Inc. for her assistance and time in preparing this website.

Uploads include the following segments.

Insider's Beijing

Extraordinary spots to visit when in Beijing, they are definitely not on the usual tourist map.  If you seek a bit of Beijing hutong adventure on your own or want to make a pot at the same site where imperial ceramics and porcelain was made during the Ming and Qing dynasties, we include them all in this section.  From basic country inns with vegetables straight from the garden to newly refurbished temples amidst Beijing's nooks, be sure to check out Insider's Beijing before your trip.
