The Album section of our website
is an effort to show the fun that can be derived from the history,
art and crafts of China. We start with the four items below
and will slowly add photos of structures and paintings from the
Ming dynasty in future months.
Under
Beijing Food and Recipes, we start with an overview of some favorite,
traditional Beijing home-style food and offer recipes from longtime
Beijing residents. Future articles will include highlights
of Beijing-style Moslem, Manchu cuisines; all will include easy-to-use
recipes for readers to try at home.
From
simple to intricate, traditional Chinese-style line drawings comprise
an art genre that can be at once graceful, practical and fun. Beautiful
in and of themselves, they can also serve as patterns for embroidery,
design, drawing and coloring. Over the years we have collated
a wide assortment of line drawings. We start with an example
of a colored camellia line drawing, which you can download and re-color.
Also available is another intricate camellia drawing and a line
drawing of chrysanthemums.
We
share our extensive collection of postage stamps from the People's
Republic of China date from 1950 to the present; all are available
for downloading.
Another
Chinese traditional art form can be found in Scissor and Knife Cuttings.
We are particularly pleased to bring to you two original handmade
knife cuttings by Mr Hou Xu, a young Beijing artist. Not only
can you download these cuttings to print out, but also you can buy
them, framed or unframed, for your personal collection. All
purchases are tax deductible contributions to the Geiss Foundation.

In
March 2005 we plan to add the first uploads of Ming structures and
paintings. |
